Poetry Jam 26.11.: TransLate Night Show

Vuoden viimeisellä Poetry Jam -klubilla vietetään suurta käännösrunousiltaa!

Lavalla nähdään saksalaiset runoilijat Sabine Scho, Judith Zander, Matthias Göritz ja Volker Sielaff sekä ukrainalainen Oleksandr Mykhed, kanadalainen Trista Hurley-Waxali ja espanjalainen Marta Teresa Pino Larrío. Heidän tekstejään esitetään myös suomennoksina joko itse kääntäjien tai muiden esittäjien toimesta.

Illan huipentaa virolainen hiphop-projekti 5loops, jonka nokkamiehenä toimii tarttolainen MC s'Poom. Rakkaus 90-luvun hiphoppiin, jazz, funk, menneiden aikojen saundi ja lyyrinen flow yhdistyvät miehen sampleissa toisiinsa. S'Poomin rinnalla lavalle nousevat kuuluisat virolaiset MC:t DJ Kayot ja Krick.

Poetry Jamin päättää tuttuun tapaan open mic, johon tällä kertaa toivotaan esiintyjiksi ennen kaikkea runouden kääntäjiä. Vaikka kaikki halukkaat ovat tervetulleita ilmoittautumaan, kaikkien itse kääntämiään runoja avomikissä esittäneiden kesken arvotaan Nuori Voima- ja Kääntäjä-lehden vuosikertoja! Open mic -osioon otetaan yhteensä 15 esiintyjää, n. 5 minuutiksi kerrallaan.

- Lähetä ilmoittautumisesti sähköpostitse klubin tuottajalle osoitteeseen ksalonen@gmail.com otsikolla "OPEN MIC" — ensimmäiset 8 ilmoittautunutta takaavat paikkansa open micin ensimmäisessä osiossa.

- Paikan päällä Cafe Mascotissa otetaan lisäksi vastaan 7 kpl ilmoittautumisia, Nuoren Voiman Liiton myyntipöydän luona alkaen klo 18.

Ilta järjestetään Cafe Mascotissa (Neljäs linja 2, 00530 Helsinki) klo 19 alkaen. Tapahtuman juontaa runoilija Kasper Salonen, ja alkaen klo 18 illan DJ:nä toimii kaikenlaisen kääntämisen ja flippaamisen superkokki Dxxxa D. Vapaa pääsy!

Poetry Jam, Nov 26: TransLate Night Show

The last Poetry Jam club of 2014 will be a night of poetry that spans at least five languages and celebrates one of the oldest professions in the world — translation.

Starting at 7 pm on Nov 26, the stage at Cafe Mascot (Neljäs linja 2, 00530 Helsinki) will feature poets Sabine Scho, Judith Zander, Matthias Göritz and Volker Sielaff (GER), Oleksandr Mykhed (UKR), Trista Hurley-Waxali (CAN) and Marta Teresa Pino Larrío (ESP). Their poems will also be heard in Finnish, as performed either by the translators themselves or by representatives of the HPC.

The night's final guests are Estonian hip hop group 5loops, headed by MC s'Poom from Tartu and joined by MCs DJ Kayot and Krick. The trio combines 90s hiphop, jazz, funk and a poetic flow with powerful samples and rap lyrics.

The year's last Poetry Jam will, of course, end with the extremely popular open mic portion. In honor of the club's theme, any open micers who perform poetry translations that they have composed themselves will be in the running to receive subscriptions to famed cultural magazines Nuori Voima and Kääntäjä! 15 performers may take part in the open mic portion, at 5 minutes at a time.

- Please send a sign-up email to the club's producer at ksalonen@gmail.com with the title "OPEN MIC" — the first 8 to sign up via email will be guaranteed a spot in the open mic.

- If you miss the pre-registration, up to 7 people can still sign up at the venue. Just find the Nuoren Voman Liitto sales table (starting from 6 pm) and write your name in our list. First come, first served!

The TransLate Night Show will be hosted by poet Kasper Salonen, and trans-latent dj flipmaster extraordinaire Dxxxa D will provide some sizzling tunes starting at 6 pm. Free entry. Welcome one and all!
